Workplace Ergonomics

Proper Workplace Ergonomics with our West Valley City Chiropractor

Peterson Chiropractic in West Valley City, UT teaches about proper workplace ergonomics. Learning better ways to sit and stand will help you whether or not you receive services from us.

How to Prevent Work Injuries

Sharp pains, stiffness, soreness or inflammation are some problems occurring because of poor posture, incorrect lifting, or prolonged sitting/ standing. You can use these ergonomic tips to prevent future workplace injuries:

  • Do not hold your phone with your head. Instead, use a headset or speakerphone when communicating with clients by telephone.
  • Position your computer mouse within reach but not too close. You will want to have enough room to drag it to positions where you need it without causing elbow cramping.
  • Pull your chair closer to your desk. This will prevent you from bending over your desk to read your computer screen or reach your computer keyboard. Lower your chair if your arms stop you from moving your seat forward enough.
  • If standing, shift positions once in a while. Move your weight to one foot then back to the other and frequently lift each foot to relieve pressure.
  • Wear cushioned shoes.  Avoid high heels if you can and wear shoes that provide enough padding to prevent pain.

How Your Chiropractor Can Improve Your Condition

Your West Valley chiropractor can assist you with spinal realignments that will alleviate existing pain and correct nervous system issues. We also can gently space out your vertebrae to take the pressure off your spine and loosen up your joints.

Spinal treatments along with therapeutic massages and physical exercises will also improve your range of motion. In addition, you will gradually notice lessening of pain, inflammation, stiffness and soreness as torn or strained ligaments begin to heal.
